 Road network
Calvados lies at the junction of several major motorways and has 11,500 km of roads
- A13 / E46 motorway :  Cherbourg - Caen - Paris (Paris - Caen = 2 hours)
- A84 Estuaries motorway : Calais Bayonne (via Nantes) (Caen – Rennes = 2 hours)
- A88 and A29 motorways : Caen - Alençon - Le Mans - Tours

Railway network

There are 312 km of railway track in service - Caen - Paris-Saint-Lazare : 1hr 45mn (Paris - Cherbourg line) - Vire - Paris - Montparnasse : 2hr 30mn (Paris - Granville line) Regional and interregional services : Caen-Tours, Caen-Rennes and Caen-Rouen A highspeed railway line between Caen, Rouen, Le Havre and Paris is currently at the planning stage.
  • Airports
Caen-Carpiquet airport
Caen - Carpiquet airport is second most important one in Calvados with 100,000 commercial passengers (+30%) and 58 tons of cargo (+13%) in 2011. All major European citites and New York can be flown to through the Lyon hub and the Paris - Orly airport. There are direct flights to 40 destinations including Ajaccio, Nice, Figari, Rome, Barcelona, Tunisia and Morocco from Caen Carpiquet.

Deauville - Normandy airport :

With 130,000 passengers in 2011, the Deauville - Normandy airport is the most important in Calvados. Therer are more than 500 programmed charter flights ingluding seasonal flights to Austria, Sicily, Germany, Poland, Crete, Morocco, Tunisia, Croatia, Jordan, Turkey, Malta, Madeira, Greece, Cyprus, Ireland ... and a daily return trip to London is available all year round. This is the most important French airport for horses transportation (150 to 200 horses per year). In 2014, the airport of Deauville - Normandy is due to be equipped with a new terminal.

  • Ports and cross-Channel routes
The cross-Channel service to Portsmouth from Caen-Ouistreham transported 951,758 passengers and 1,960 cruise passengers in 2011.
There are 3 daily return crossing with Brittany Ferries and 1 high-speed boat round trip during the week-end from March to September.
33,634 cars and 110,61 trucks crossed the Channel in 2011.

  • Commercial ports Caen : port of national importance. 3.58 million tons of freight were carried in 2011 : building materials, food and farming goods, products for recycling ... Honfleur : Wood logs and lumber, bulk industrial goods... and cruise ships and riverboats cruise in season.
