Découvrir le Calvados

Calvados presentation

Calvados is one of the  three counties of Lower Normandy. Its capital is Caen. Its coastline, rich gastronomy and proximity to England and Paris entice many companies to establish themselves in Normandy.
Calvados is bordered by a coastline which extends over 120 km. The county is blessed with prime agricultural land perfect for both arable and livestock farming. This engaging combination of coastline and countryside makes Calvados a particularly attractive destination.

The economy of Calvados, reflects the diversity and balance of its geography. The county has brought together businesses from various economic sectors, including both large industrial groups and small and medium sized companies which are leaders in their field.

The strength and richness of Calvados are also built on the quality of its human resources, men and women who contribute every day to the development of their businesses.

At the beginning of the last century economic activity was mainly focused on the food industry. Calvados then underwent a radical transformation. Today its economy is diverse and wide-ranging and includes the automotive, microelectronic, electronic banking and logistics industries, as well as the customers relation management, water sports, equine and tourism sectors - and not forgetting, of course, the modern-day food industry.
